World War II was the first war in history to receive almost continuous coverage on radio. This one-hour, virtual presentation examines how radio rose to the challenge of life during wartime, with sound clips from news broadcasts, presidential speeches, entertainment shows, programs designed to boost morale (both at home and among the armed forces) and more!
Steve Darnall is the host of a radio show in Chicago (Those Were the Days) dedicated to the “Golden Age” of radio. Over the years, he’s spoken at dozens of libraries on topics related to different aspects of radio history.
Click here to register for this event. Only 100 people will be able to watch via Zoom, so if the meeting is full please watch live on the DeKalb Public Library Facebook page.
