Virtual Event: A Beginner’s Guide to the Golden Age of Radio
Thursday July 8 @ 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM
This virtual presentation looks at some of the biggest shows and stars to emerge from the early years of radio, including Jack Benny, Bob Hope and The Shadow, with sound clips and stories about how radio became America’s first mass medium, transforming the United States of America from 48 states into a national listening community.
Steve Darnall is the host of a radio show in Chicago (Those Were the Days) dedicated to the “Golden Age” of radio. Over the years, he’s spoken at dozens of libraries on topics related to different aspects of radio history.
Click here to register. Only 100 people will be able to watch via Zoom, so if the meeting is full please watch live on the DeKalb Public Library Facebook page.
