Lego day: A relaxing day of Lego and Duplo building, while watching everyone’s favorite brick movie.
- July 1: Fourth of July Celebration
4th of JulyCelebrate America’s birthday! Learn about how we became a country and do some fun activities and crafts.
- August: No Homeschool Happenings
- 9/16: Game Day
Bring a board or card game and get to know the other homeschoolers in the area in this low-key Homeschool Happenings. Some group games will also be available.
- 10/7: Balloons Around the World
Celebrate this one-of-a-kind holiday with a special balloon party! Enjoy balloon games and crafts before we turn on our thinking caps and do a short writing workshop. Then we’ll be attaching our finished writing to balloons and planting them for people to find around the library! (Is that ok, Julie?)
- 11/4: Dinovember
Celebrate this fun holiday! We’ll read about the family who started it all, and then create our own dinosaur scenes throughout the library. Feel free to bring some of your own dinosaur miniatures to pose for pictures.
- 12/2: Holiday party
Join us for our nondenominational holiday party! Games, crafts, and snacks will all be included. Please bring a small wrapped gift (gently used, or new costing less than $5) for a gift exchange.
- 1/6: Snowflakes
Learn about snowflakes and the weather that makes them. We’ll also do some fun art projects, and hopefully look at some real snow outside!
- 2/3: Valentine’s Day party
Fall in love with Homeschool Happenings at our annual Valentine’s Day party! We’ll make cards for a nursing home and play some themed games, as well as have a Valentine exchange. Please bring 15-20 Valentines (either blank or labeled “to a friend”) for the party.
- 3/2: Art theory
Explore the basics of art. We’ll learn about some famous artists and recreate some of their styles, as well as making some art just for fun! Wear clothes that can get messy!
- 4/6: Clothespin Social
What even is a clothespin social? Discover this forgotten tradition as we experience games and crafts, all centered around clothespins. You have to see this party to believe it!
- 5/4: Garden picnic
Join us outside in the garden for an end-of-year picnic. We’ll read stories, do crafts and songs, and plant some seeds of our own. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy together after the activities.
